symmetrically, it must be farther away from its original position; and for the
antisymmetric arrangement, the same result is obtained, when there was a
certain ratio between the rows and the neighboring vortices and when there
was spacing between the rows and columns. When there was a certain ratio
of the spacing of adjacent vortices, the vortex stayed in the vicinity of its
original position and makes a slight circular path motion around the original
position. Von Karman confirmed the existence of vortex street through theoretical analysis of Hiemenz’s tank experiment. In later generations, due to the
detailed and successful study of its mechanism by Von Karmen, it was named
after Karmen’s surname, known as Karmen Vortex Street. Von Karman wrote
