This study has taken into account only the mean flows of tributaries recorded at the
hydrometric stations, situated upstream from the most important dams. For electric
power production, the data provided by the Hidroelectrica S.A. were used. The
conflict between Hidroelectrica S.A. as debtor and other institutions that purchased
electric power has been the subject of ongoing court cases within the Bucharest Court
(Bucharest Court Civil Section VII).
The data were processed in the Laboratory of Hydrology of the Faculty of Geography and Geology from the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi. The graphical
material was processed in CorelDRAW X3. The field measurements were conducted
during and immediately after the described hydrological phenomena occurred.

Following is the production capacity of the branches. The 140 micro hydropower
plants with installation capacities <4 MW comprise a total of 287 hydropower groups
with a total installation capacity of 111.86 MW. The 23 hydropower plants with
installation capacity ranging between 4 and 10 MW, where there are 46 hydropower
groups with a total installed capacity of 165.68 MW (Table 15.2); 106 hydropower
plants with installation capacities exceeding 10 MW, comprising a total of 247
hydropower groups with an installation capacity of 6074.27 MW; 5 pumping stations with 91.5 MW installation capacity (Table 15.3). The production capacity of
branches is provided by the following: 140 micro hydropower plants with installation capacities <4 MW, comprising a total of 287 hydropower groups with a total

The hydrological context for the period between 30th September 2011 and 30th
April 2012, requires collecting data on the mean annual and multi-annual liquid
discharge for all hydrographical arteries, comprising the hydropower units. The main
point of interest is represented by stations that record the flows of reservoirs and the
