Economic damages and human life losses caused by floods, are reported at the
level of the territorial administrative unit, and not at hydrographic basin level. On the
hydrographic basins, is being monitored the total affected area, the length of flooded
sectors of the riverbed, the duration of the manifestation and the amount of water
flow out.
Performing a territorial analysis of the territorial administrative units that were
affected by the floods in the period 2005–2016, it is noted the existence of highfrequency localities but also some that are rarely affected or not at all.
There are situations when the floods affect almost the whole country (Fig. 9.13),
as it did in 2005, or only regions within it—2007, 2009, 2011, 2015 (Fig. 9.14).
