9.4.2 Frequency of Floods in Romania
Romania is administratively divided into 41 counties, which totals 3181 communes.
Of this total of territorial-administrative units, a total of 2664, were affected by the
floods at least once between 2005 and 2016 (Fig. 9.12).
In the period 2005–2016, the localities affected by the floods from Romania,
has varied numerically but also as a geographical position. This is due to climate
manifestations and land use. It is clearly distinguished the years in which floods
occurred in the largest number of localities (2005, 2010, 2014), but also those with
the lowest number (2009, 2011, 2012, 2015) (Fig. 9.13).
