In the Geltic Sea, during the 1997 survey, the thermohaline pattem at
50 m shows a small and weak cold cvclonic area wtth a low salinitv and a
low frontal activity (fig. 5a). On the contraty, in 1998, the 50 m thermohaline pattern shows a well-developed cyclonic structure wdiich performed an intense front with the warmer exterior shelf break waters
(fig. 5b). Tlie consequence of this different hydrographic situation in
those years was the location of the 1997 poor recruitment only under
the small cyclonic stmcture and the 1998 situation that could explain the
bigger size of recruit aggregations.
