We collected boulders from all over the Rapids area as a means of
sampling the bottom and studying the sessile fauna (Lilly et al., 1953).
Of the species found attached to rocks, forty-eight were common enough
for us to examine for preferences. Of these, eleven preferred stations in
the strong current. For example, the anemone Metridium senile (Fig. 22)
