Β. Inhibition of an Adenocarcinoma of the Mouse
by a Pair of Morphostatic Substances
1. The Experiments of Sträuli and Neukomm
It had been found earlier that Erlenmeyer's aminoketone (E 9 ) and
colchicine produced a strong synergistic inhibition of tail regeneration in
Xenopus larvae (Lehmann, 1954). This same combination of morphostatic substances brings about also a remarkable increase of the

that he should plot the scatter of the measurements taken individually from single
tumours.
In each case groups of curves have been obtained which show for each experiment
a somewhat different character. The controls grow rapidly without regressions. Tumours
treated with Colchicine increase somewhat slower and remain alive somewhat longer.
Tumours treated with Colchicine and E 9 show some regressions and a better survival
of some individuals. On the ordinate the tumour size is indicated, on the abscissa the
time (unit =2 days). Each curve represents one individual tumour.
