The heat and mass transport processes and chemical reactions in the catalyst pellet have been discussed in the previous chapters. The basic mathematical models and the numerical or analytical methods to solve model equations have been introduced together with the computer programs used for simulation and plotting the concentration and temperature profiles in the pellets. Readers are advised to refer to the books by Aris (1975) and Kafarow (1993) for further exploration of complex phenomena involving simultaneous coupled heat and mass transfer with chemical reaction in the pellet. The pellet model is an essential part of the overall reactor models, which are used for design of new reactors or optimization of existing one.
