Aquaculture of cyprinids= L'aquaculture des cyprinidés

The originality of cyprinids and their importance in world fish-farming as the most widely farmed fish in the world justify the publication of such volume about aquaculture of cyprinids. This volume presents reviewed papers given at the symposium by international specialists and summarizing the actual state of knowledge and techniques in the main fields of cyprinids farming; nutrition, reproduction, genetics, larva rearing, growth in ponds, farming practices, pathology, processing and economy. During this symposium, original results were also presented in posters at the end of each session. Summaries of these posters (not reviewed) are presented in this volume as well as round table conclusions edited by the session presidents. The present volume is not a treatise of cyprinid farming but a review that brings up to date existing works in the field. Two hundred and fifty people from 26 countries attended the symposium organized in France near Paris. The aim was to bring together central European specialists (invited as part of a bilateral exchange program with France) and the rest of international scientific and technical community.
