Chemistry: quantum mechanics and spectroscopy I

I was pleased to respond to requests to write a textbook that introduces quantum mechanics and the physical-chemistry aspects of spectroscopy. I developed and presented lectures and tutorials on quantum mechanics and spectroscopy to our first and second year Chemistry students over many years at the Chemistry Department, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland. These lectures and tutorials have formed the basis for this textbook. I would like to thank the staff of Heriot-Watt University Chemistry Department for their help and thank the students who gave me valuable feedback on these lectures and tutorials. I hope this textbook will help future students with their Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Biology or Biochemistry degrees and then in their later careers.
