The emphasis in this paper is on the two space-borne IS which are under
study or development for ESA (of which finally only one will go into the
flight hardware phase). These are HRIS (High Resolution Imaging Spectrometer, currently an airborne demo model is under development under DSS
prime contract), and PRISM (Processes Research by an Imaging Space Mission), currently in Pre-Phase A study level in two teams, one again lead by
DSS.
