20.2.10.3 Rungdil
Rungdil (Plate 20.52 ) is a lentic body which is
situated near the village Darlawn, which is not
very far from Manipur–Mizoram border. The diatoms generally dominate the phytoplankton. The
lake is surrounded by tropical rainforest.
20.2.10.4 Palakdil
Palakdil or Palak Lake (Plate 20.53 ) is the largest
natural lentic body (commonly called lake) in
Mizoram. It is situated near Phura in the southern
part of the state near Siaha along the IndoMyanmar border. It is oval in shape and has an
area of about 1 km
2
. The lake is surrounded by
lush virgin forests rich in fl ora and fauna. There
are some legends about the origin of the lake.
