and Doshen canal, sampling sites for both discharge and concentration, and the
boundaries of the two areas for which a mass balance was computed (Dalhamia -
Neve Ur and Neve Ur - Hamadia). Table 1 summarizes the up-to-date flow-rate
measurements obtained along the river (discharge will further be obtained through
winter and summer 2001). It shows that the discharge of the unknown input in
February and March is about 720 and 570 f S-1 respectively. This flow enters the
river in the south part (Neve Ur - Hamadia) alone. The negative value found in the
north part in March is impossible. It is assumed, therefore, that the pumping report
is incomplete. Since the conductivity of the Lisan formation is poor, water can
flow only through conducting regions such as preferential ancient dry streams. It
was suggested that the unknown inflow passes through the ancient wadi Tabor and
wadi Arab in the south part and through the ancient Yarmouk sediments in the
north part.
