9.5.2
Lead
Organometallic Compounds
231
Wong et al. [667] observed that various species of algae were capable of converting
trimethyllead acetate, but not inorganic lead salts, to tetramethyllead, and that the
tetramethyllead appreciably decreased the rate of algal cell growth.
9.5.3
Tin
The hydride generation atomic absorption spectroscopic method [320], described
under organotin compounds in Sect. 4.5.6 for the determination of organotin compounds in marine sediments, has also been applied to the analysis of organotin
compounds and inorganic tin in algae.
