The first tagging program started in Brazil in 1981 at the Biological Reserve of
Atol das Rocas (Marcovaldi and Marcovaldi 1999). The tagging program gave us
a little bit more knowledge to plan and increase our activities. Tags returns from
long distance areas, sometimes, other nations or even continents were sent back to
us, showing how much these individuals were able to travel. Standard flipping tags
are still used throughout the world, to identify individual turtles, estimate demoM.Â. Marcovaldi et al.
