multitude of different fluorescence intensity ratios is obtained (Fig. 6). A
specific feature of the ISIS/mFISH software from MetaSystems (Germany),
calculates the fluorescence intensity ratios within defined regions and assigns a false color. These calculations lead to the characteristic color banding (Fig. 6). Repeated hybridizations proved that this procedure is highly
reproducible. Moreover, comparing investigations revealed that the banding pattern is largely independent of chromosome condensation and the
same banding pattern can be obtained on chromosomes of different
lengths (Fig. 6).
