The assemblages showed a nearly monospecific fish composition (L.
squamifrons) in the day 50 m depth horizon. A slight increase in the
number of species and changes in the percentage occurrence were
observed in the two following depths. The deepest horizon showed the
highest number of species (Table 2). At night the 50 m layer was
dominated by five myctophids, of which E. antarctica was the most
