Antarctic Fish Immunoglobulins: Structure and Antibody Specificity

nematodes, available in smaller amount, was prepared only under reducing
conditions (CaSP) [18].
A high molecular heterogeneity was found when the nematode protein
preparations were analyzed by different methods: in SDS-PAGE, PdSP
showed about 26 protein bands whereas PdAP and PdRP showed a lower
number of components (12 and 6 respectively). The main band (40 kDa) of
PdSP was revealed also in PdAP and PdRP, besides components specific
for each preparation (Fig. 2). PdSP was found very heterogeneous also in
isoelectric point as demonstrated by two-dimensional electrophoresis
(Coscia et al. in preparation). PdRP was found less heterogeneous also
when analyzed by reverse-phase HPLC as only six peaks were obtained
[6].
The nematode extracts obtained from the two species by the same
method (PdSP and CaSP) shared at least three components (Fig. 2).
