In total, 287 cultured specimens and 109 from the
natural habitat, all of different ages were analysed.
Results and discussion
During our investigations a considerable increase in
the size of shell, even after sexual maturity, was
observed. After sexual maturity female shells increase
more rapidly than in the previous period, i.e. in young
