Results
According to Schiller et al. (1959), a 30-fold increase in size of the cultured fragments was observed by the 11th day of culture if the medium
was supplemented with an extract of cestode tissue. The scolex regenerated strobila. As many as 130 segments formed, with some differentiation of reproductive organs. When the cultured worm was implanted in
rats, it became a single, normal H. diminuta.
