Cephalic and Esophageal Regions of Earthworms (Oligochaeta)

- Earthworms Eisenia foetida (1 month old) kept on humidified filter Animals

Procedure
1. Keep the worm on filter paper wet with water for 48 h in a petri dish. Sterilization
2. Sterilize the worm by UV radiation for 10 min.
1. Cut the cephalic region, consisting of the prostomium and three seg- Dissection
ments with five segments of the esophageal region, which do not contain any pharyngeal regions.
1. Transfer the cut region into a culture vessel with Sengel's medium.

Results
According to Marcel (1966), co culture of cephalic ganglions from the
ectodermal tissues of esophageal fragments induce a structure characteristic of the pharynx.
