Growing cells can be obtained from larval tissues. When small larvae of
homopteran insects are used, the explants will simply be torn larvae. In
this case, larvae reared under aseptic conditions should be used. (For
aseptic rearing of leafhoppers, refer to Mitsuhashi and Maramorosch
(1963) or Mitsuhashi (1979)) .
