for 1987 (Table 15.9). Nutrients recycled by macroalgae in 1987 were
approximately 23900 t of nitrogen and 2100 t of phosphate. Taking into
account the most recent estimations of nutrient loadings in this basin
(2578 and 351 t of Nand P, respectively; Andreottola et al. 1990), the
seaweeds recycled about nine times the total N and six times the P
