in the feedback loop are required as well as more detailed measurements
of the amounts of DMS, DMSP, and other components in the atmosphere
and oceans.
The model is based on a one-dimensional model that incorporates
simple stock/flux calculations. If 1 week is the characteristic residence
time of a moderately reactive gas in the atmosphere (Lovelock, Maggs, &
Rasmussen, 1972), then the stock of DMS in the atmosphere can be
calculated. A zero-dimensional energy balance model (Henderson -Sellers
& McGuffie, 1987) considers the earth as a single point , such that:
(1 - a) S/4 = aTe
