becomes important to define the rainforest zone with greater precision.
Alaback (1991) developed useful criteria for delimiting climatically analagous areas of cool temperate rainforest in North and South America.
His criteria include more than 1400mm precipitation, of which 10%
occurs in the summer months, a July (northern) or January (southern)
