they quickly rose to 10 DC (within 6 weeks) and remained at this level. Temperatures stayed continuously over 15 DC just in June. Correspondingly, a maximum
water temperature was reached late in the year (August). Compared with the previous years, the summer of 1996 was colder with strong cloud cover and unusually
high wind speeds for this season. The further meteorological development from
August on was inconspicuous.
