not found. The studies on the Swedish coast were done as preliminary studies, as no
extensive bird studies had previously been made on the Swedish side of the 0resund.
The preliminary studies showed that construction of the bridge abutment at Lernacken
may have an impact during periods with ice.

Monitoring of Beaches and Coasts
7.2.5.1
Beaches and Bathing Water Quality
The quality of the beaches and bathing water along the coasts in the 0resund outside
the inner impact zone must not be changed to such an extent that the quality requirements for bathing water cannot be complied with. By agreement with the Municipalities of Copenhagen and Drag0r measurements of Escherichia coli and measurements
for suspended matter are being made in addition to existing monitoring of bathing
water along Amager Beach and along Drag0r's north and south beaches.
0resundskonsortiet has displayed information on the construction work in progress
and its possible effects on the beaches in question in co-operation with the local authorities.
The results of the studies carried out on the Danish side in the period up to the end
of July 1996 did not show any impact on bathing water quality along the stretches of
coast investigated. The bathing water limits for both Secchi depth and E. coli were therefore complied with throughout the period. Nor were any infringements of the set limit
values recorded for the bathing beaches investigated on the Swedish side.
7.2.5.2
Coastal Morphology
The effects of the dredging work must be limited to the immediate vicinity of the alignment. The work must not result in sanding-up which causes the artificial island to become joined with Saltholm. Only insignificant changes in bottom and coastline conditions on the other coasts are accepted in the direction of more vegetated coast.
The control and monitoring programme for the coast includes the coastlines at
Amager and Saltholm on the Danish side and the area around Lernacken on the Swedish side. The programme is carried out every year in June/July and covers a large number
of profiles. To this can be added charting by means of aerial photography of the coastline.
7.2.6
Environmental Information System
Requirements were set in connection with approval of the control and monitoring programme by the Danish and Swedish authorities to the effect that the authorities should
have on-line access to all relevant environmental data which are gathered in the context of the project. To this end 0resundskonsortiet has developed an environmental
information system, Eagle, which underwent testing by the authorities in the spring of
