These speeds are more close to the phase speeds of the shelf waves (Efimov et aI, 1985).
Tendency of increase of the wave speed with decrease of their periods is appreciable (Table 3).
The wave lengths are commensurable with the sizes of atmospheric cyclones and anticyclones.
The waves propagate eastward. Alekseev and Mustafin (1972) studied the sea level oscillations
