Cyclostomata
Cycliophora. (Morris 1995)
cyclonic flow under the influence of the Coriolis force on earth, water flowing
around a low pressure area according to the geostrophic balance (so with the
omission of other, usually smaller scale factors) rotates in a cyclonic sense.
Because of the differences in the direction of the Corio lis force in both
hemispheres, this cyclonic flow is curved to the left in the northern hemisphere and to the right in the south. The opposite of cyclonic flow is anticyclonic flow, around an area of high pressure.
Cyclops Expedition performed in 1857 soundings between Ireland and New
Foundland under J. Dayman for the laying of submarine cables. During
sounding also bottom samples were collected and examined by Thomas
Henry Huxley. He found a viscous substance in the bottles with preserved
animals and described this as Bathybius and thought it to be the protoplasm
of a primitive form of life on the ocean bottom, but later it was proven by the
chemist J. Y. Buchanan of the Challenger Deep-Sea Expedition to be a sulfate precipitate of alcohol and seawater.
Cyclostomata (1) -7Agnatha; (2) order of the class Stenolaemata (phylum Bryozoa).
The lophophore is circular without an epistome. There are neither avicularia nor
