Acknowledgments to the Second Edition
I thank all the editors who supported me in preparing this second edition of
the encyclopedia, especially Marc S.S. Lavaleye for his efforts in revising and
updating the taxonomical entries and Gerhard C. CaMe for extending the
encyclopedia with entries on oceanographical expeditions and transmitting
the excitement of the participants in their discoveries. Niels Daan added relevant terms from fishery biology.
