The undert'taking does not exclude the '~oarticipation" of the seawall in the
protection scheme. The hard structure will act mainly, in harmony with the
coastal dunes, to defend the hinterland against flooding.
Approximately 800,000 m 3 (2,825/200 cu.ft 3) of sand had to be pumped ashore. It
was tested for the presence of silt, shells and toxic substances. It had an average
grain size of about 300 micron.
