For the Quaternary volcanic terrain in Java, for example, the landforms and the
degree of dissection, which can be interpreted on imagery, relates well to the
relative age. The age of the volcanics is associated with the degree of compaction,
which in tum influences permeability, base flow and overall recharge. (Anon.,
