The data are collected, and a gross range check is performed before the decimation of the
original profile and transmission. The data colleting centre provide a more accurate quality
control before the data dissemination, which must be assured in a timely fashion.
-Low sampling resolution: this mode is comprising networks with monthly repetition period and 4 XBT drops per day; it is used to measure the seasonal and interannual variability of the upper ocean ;
-Frequent1y repeated sampling: tracks are covered 18 times per year with a spatial resolution of 100 - 150 km; at an ocean level, this mode is used in presence of
infra-seasonal osci1lations and other small scale variability;
