forecasts, the finalised and tested version of a model is transferred from the
research department to an operational department which is running the model
according to a fixed schedule, monitoring the performance and quality, and rectifying errors. Simultaneously, the further development of the model continues on a
research version.
The effort needed to transfer a research model to an ocean forecasting system is
in general very underestimated.
