Regional, rather than global, indications of decadal-to-centennial change
are numerous- a large variety of indications are given in the report by the
Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (1992) and in the compilation of papers in Martinson et al., 1995. In particular, the work of Deser
and Blackmon (1993) and Kushnir (1994) show that interdecadal variability of North Atlantic SST can be considerably larger than 1°C.
