1.4 Essential Features of Analytical Chemistry

the teaching materials used by the third element. Both should feed this element
and be the driving forces of pedagogical renovation. Confining the teaching of
Analytical Chemistry to the mere description of the second component is a
glaring mistake.
I 1.4.2 Fundamentals
A science must possess some distinct fundamentals if it is to possess a structure
and character of its own and be distinguishable from other sciences. In Analytical Chemistry, the two groups of fundamentals or principles shown in Fig. 1.9
are frequently confused.
Analytical Chemistry has some shared fundamentals in common with other
areas of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Engineering, among
others. Such fundamentals make it no self-contained entity; also, they encompass its applied facet only. However, they playa crucial role in the development
of analytical tools, which provide theoretical and practical support for instruments, apparatuses, methodologies, reagents, approaches, etc.
