Appendix D Computer Programs ApD
D.2.7 Program D.45: Wave Shoaling and Refraction (Parallel Bottom Contours)
• Theoretical background: see Section 4.2.4.
• Input data:
- offshore water depth h [m],
- incident wave height H [m],
- wave period T [s],
- incident wave angle BO [0],
- width of refraction zone I [m].
• Output: graph of wave ray turning within the shallow water zone. At
offshore and inshore boundaries of the zone, the values of wave height
and wave angle are given.
D.2.8 Program D.46: Harmonic Analysis of a Given Time Series
f(t)
The program has been carried out assuming that 0 < t < T.
• Theoretical background: see Section 4.3.3.
• Input data: the name and path of the file containing the values of function
f(t) in the format:
t
f(t)
For example, your file should be in the format:
o
f(O)
D.t
f(D.t)
2D.t
f(2D.t)
3D.t
f(3D.t)
ND.t = T
f(T)
In the areas provided, enter the value of length of time series T, number
of points N, and number of assumed harmonics N h. As an example, file
D46.dat is given (CD drive\data\d46.dat) with T = 30 sand N = 500.
• Output: graph of initial function f(t) (blue line) and approximation by
the Fourier Series (red line). Increasing the number N h results in a better
approximation of function f(t). On the vertical axis, values of both
functions are given. The horizontal axis is normalized against T.
