D Computer Programs Set ApD
D.l Programs Installation
On a distribution compact disc (CD) attached to the book, series of ready to
use computer programs are given. The programs have been written using Microsoft Visual Basic, Version 4, with a friendly menu. References to particular
programs are noted accordingly in the text.
The programs ApD run under the Microsoft Windows operating environment
and Visual Basic is not needed. All necessary information is provided on the
CD. The installation itself comprises the following steps:
1. Start Windows.
2. Insert CD into the CD drive.
3. From Windows Program Manager, select Run from the Start menu.
4. If you are using drive D type d: \setup in the command line and click OK.
If you are using a different drive, use that drive letter instead.
5. The installation program copies files to your hard disk and sets up Windows so that you can begin running the program under the Windows
operating system.
6. To use the ApD programs click ApD in the Programs folder.
D.2 Brief Program Descriptions
D.2.1 Program D.ll: Calculation of Sea Water Density According
to UNESCO Formula
• Theoretical background: see Section 1.2.1.
• Input data:
- temperature T [0C] in the range 0 < T < 40°C,
- salinity S (ppm) in the range 0 < S < 42 ppm.
• Output: value of salt water density Pw [kg/m 3 ].
