Annex A: Terms and definitions ofthe ISO 19100 standards
255
feature restricted to 2D geometry with linear interpolation between vertices, having
both spatial and non spatial attributes (lS054 2000)
solid
3-dimensional geometrie primitive, representing the continuous image of a region of
Euc1idean 3 space (lS039 2003)
NOTE
Asolid is realizable locally as a 3 parameter set of direct positions.
The boundary of asolid is the set of oriented, c10sed surfaces that comprise the limits ofthe solid.
spatial attribute
feature attribute describing the spatial representation of the feature by coordinates,
mathematical functions and/or boundary topology relationships (lS049 2002)
spatial object
instance of a type defined in the spatial schema (lS034 2002)
object used for representing a spatial characteristic of a feature (IS039 2003)
spatial operator
function or procedure that has at least one spatial parameter in its domain or range
(lS0392003)
NOTE
Any UML operation on a spatial object would be c1assified as a
spatial operator as are the query operators in c1ause 8 ofiSO 19107.
spatial reference
description ofposition in the real world (lS043 2003)
NOTE
This may take the form of a label, code or set of coordinates.
spatial reference system
system for identifying position in the real world (lS044 2001)
start node
node in the boundary of an edge that corresponds to the start point of that edge as a
curve in a valid geometrie realization of the topological complex in which the edge
is used (lS039 2003)
start point
first point ofa curve (lS039 2003)
stereotype
new type of modelling element that extends the semantics of the metamodel
(lSOIEC47 2003, IS050 2002)
NOTE
Stereotypes must be based on certain existing types or c1asses in
the metamodel. Stereotypes may extend the semanties, but not the structure of preexisting types and c1asses. Certain stereotypes are perdefined in the UML, others
