height (h or H)
distance of a point from a chosen reference surface along a line perpendicular to that
surface (IS043 2003)
NOTE 1
See ellipsoidal height and gravity-related height.
NOTE 2
Height of a point outside the surface treated as positive; negative
height is also named as depth.
homomorphism
relationship between two domains (such as two complexes) such that there is a structure preserving function from one to the other (IS039 2003)
NOTE
Homomorphisms are distinct from isomorphisms in that no inverse
function is required. In an isomorphism, there are essentially two homomorphisms
that are functional inverses of one another. Continuous functions are topological
homomorphisms because they preserve ''topological characteristics". The mapping
of topological complexes to their geometric realizations preserves the concept of
boundary and is therefore a homomorphism.
identifier
label that uniquely identifies an item or group of items (IS050 2002)
implementation
realization ofa specification (IS037 2000)
NOTE
In the context of ISO geographic information standards, this includes specifications of geographic information services and datasets.
Implementation conformance statement (IeS)
statement ofspecification options that have been implemented (IS037 2000)
Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (IXIT)
statement containing all of the information related to the IUT and its corresponding
SUT which will enable the testing laboratory to run an appropriate test suite against
that IUT (IS037 2000)
NOTE
IXIT typically provides the details on the organization and storage
of concepts in the SUT as weil as on the means of access to and modification of the
SUT.
inconclusive verdict
test verdict when neither a pass verdict nor a fail verdict apply (IS037 2000)
indirect evaluation method
method of evaluating the quality of a dataset based on external knowledge (IS046
2001)
NOTE
Examples of external knowledge are dataset lineage, such as production method or source data.
