NOTE
Geometrie primitives are non-deeomposed objeets that present information about geometrie
geometrie realization
geometrie eomplex whose geometrie primitives are in a 1 to 1 eorrespondenee to the
topologieal primitives of a topologie al eomplex, such that the boundary relations in
the two eomplexes agree (IS039 2003)
NOTE
In such a realization the topologieal primitives are eonsidered to
represent the interiors of the eorresponding geometrie primitives. Composites are
closed.
geometrie set
set of direet positions (IS039 2003)
NOTE
This set in most eases is infinite.
graph
set of nodes, some of whieh are joined by edges (IS039 2003)
NOTE
In geographie information systems, a graph ean have more than
one edge joining two nodes, and ean have an edge that has the same node at both
ends.
graphicallanguage
language whose syntax is expressed in terms of graphieal symbols (IS034 2002)
gravity-related height (H)
height dependent on the Earth's gravity field (1S043 2003)
NOTE
In partieular, orthometrie height or normal height, whieh are both
approximations of the distanee of a point above the mean sea level.
Greenwich meridian
meridian that passing through the position of the Airy Transit Circle at the Royal
Observatory Greenwich, United Kingdom (IS043 2003)
NOTE
Most geodetie datums use the Greenwich meridian as the prime
meridian. Its preeise position differs slightly between different datums.
Gregorian ealendar
ealendar in general use; first introdueed in 1582 to define a year that more closely
approximated the tropieal year than the Julian ealendar (IS017 2000, IS040 2002)
NOTE
The introduetion ofthe Gregorian ealendar icluded the eaneellation
of the aeeumulated inaeeuraeies of the Julian year. In the Gregorian ealendar, a ealendar year is either a eommon year or a leap year; eaeh year is devided into 12 sequential months.
grid
network eomposed of two or more sets of eurves in whieh the member of eaeh set interseet the memhers ofthe other sets in an algorithmie way (IS053 2002)
