The main objeetives of the Conferenee of European Statistieians
are:
• to improve national stabsbes and their international
eomparability in regard to the reeommendations of the
Statistieal Commission of the United Nations, the Speeialised
Agencies and other appropriate bodies as neeessary,
• to promote e10se eoordination of the statistical aetivities in the
ECE region of international organizations in order to aehieve
greater uniformity in eoneepts and definitions and to minimise
the burden on national statistieal offices,
• to respond to any emerging need for international statistieal eooperation arising out of transition, integration and other proeesses of eooperation both within the ECE region and between
the ECE region and other regions.
