4.5 Schema for coverage geometry and functions (ISO
19123)
Coverages are geographie information schemas that integrate diserete and eontinuous geographie phenomena. Discrete phenomena are recognizable objects that
have relatively well-defined boundaries or spatial extent. Examples would include
buildings, streams, and measurement stations. Continuous phenomena vary over
space and have no specific extent. Examples of this would include temperature, soil
