probably because cod dig for sandeels in the sand.
Haddock diet: Haddock consume 42% of benthic food whilst pelagic planktivores
(mainly sandeel and pout) account for 25% of diet and demersal piscivores some 21%.
A reasonable quantity of plankton material (11%) is also eaten.
