Distribution: Cosmopolitan; Asia: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cambodia, China,
Taiwan, India.
Habitat: Wetlands, cultivated beds.
Description: It is a somewhat delicateappearing, low-growing, herbaceous
plant with a narrow, creeping stem that
readily roots at the nodes. Trifoliate
leaves are subdivided into three rounded
leaflets and resemble a cloverin shape.
Some varieties have green leaves, while
others have purple. Leaves have inconspicuous stipules at the base of each
petiole. Flowers are hermaphrodite. The
whole plant of this species is edible.
