Distribution: Africa: Nile, Chad Basin,
Niger, Upper Volta, Guinea, Senegal,
and Gambia (Geelhand, 2013b).
Habitat: Turbulent or fast-running
streams.
Description: Head of this species is
oval shaped to rectangular dorsally.
Snout is broadly rounded. Eyes are
rather laterally placed. Pectoral spine
is smooth. Body and fins occasionally
have irregularly placed spots. It can
reach a length of 150 cm and weight of
30 kg (Geelhand, 2013b).
