Habitat: Shallow waters of lakes; rivers,

Description: Head of this species is oval
and eyes are very large and easily visible from above. Dorsal fin is large and
its upper edge is round. Caudal fin is
deeply forked. Color of body is gray-blue
except for the ventral surface, which is
white. Fins are grayish pink; adipose
fins are black and lips and barbels are
pink. This species grows to a maximum
size of 65 cm (Reed et al., 1967).
