Description: It is a relatively deepbodied and laterally compressed species. While the head and belly are silvery,
the rest of the body is transparent, so the
prominent backbone and other bones
are visible. In this species, fins are long
and rounded with the exception of two
separate, pointed dorsal fins. The caudal
fin is moderately long and forked. It has
a pale green iridescence, particularly
over the dorsal area. It grows to a maximum size of 8 cm.

Description: The short, deep body is
characteristic of the species. The second
anal fin spine is enlarged, and there are
43–46 scales in the lateral line series.
This species grows to a maximum size
of 20 cm (Bailly, 1997i).
