Habitat: Large river systems.
Description: In this species the head,
eyes, and byssus are absent. The shell
measures 70–200 mm in dimensions.
The shell is oblong, with the margin opposite the hinge more or less
straight or only slightly incurved.
The margin opposite the hinge is outwardly curved. The shell is opaque
(and robust), brown, bright or dark
greenish or greenish brown and
glossy (Dey, 2007).

Distribution: Lower and upper Gangetic
Plains in India and Bangladesh, Sri
Lanka, Myanmar (Madhyastha et al.,
2010).
Habitat: Lentic and lotic freshwater
habitats; ditches, ponds, lakes, rivers,
and streams; prefers stagnant waters.
Description: This species is cephalic
and bilaterally symmetrical. Umbo is
present along the dorsal margin and
is slightly anterior to the hinge. True
siphons are absent, and instead, there
are two or three openings present in
the mantle along the posterior margin.
Adult unionids measure from 30 to
250 mm in length, and are just as variable in shape and color (Dey, 2007).
