Common name: Rice field crab.
Distribution: Northern Sri Lanka and
Southeast India (Cumberlidge, 2008b).
Habitat: Freshwater, rice fields.
Description: Carapace of this species is
transverse. Surfaces are smooth and convex. Epigastric and post-orbital cristae
are distinct. Epibranchial teeth are well
developed and distinct. Third maxilliped
exopod has well-developed flagellum
reaching beyond the width of the merus.
Male’s abdomen is broadly triangular.
Male first pleopod is stout. Male second
pleopod has distinct distal segment that
is shorter than the elongate basal segment (Ng, 1994).
